Sunday 20 December 2009

Scribe Update.

OK, this post may be dated on Sunday, but I didn't publish it on Sunday as I didn't finish writing it. All I did was jot the numbers down and save draft.

As it's Christmas Eve, I have better things to do than write an extensive post about it. I still have the Dungeon Finder Tool post to finish :P

So here are the numbers...

Seller #1: 2263 glyphs @ 5g each = 11,315g
Seller #2: 1672 glyphs @ 5g each = 8,360g
Seller #3: 1667 glyphs @ 5g each = 8,335g

Ink of the Sea: 2,704 @ 4g50sg each = 12,168g
Snowfall Ink: 1347 @ 11g each = 15,686g
Cash: 44,752g

For a total of 100,616 gold of which 44.5% is cash.

Last weeks figures were a glyph count guestimate and this weeks are spot on. The ready cash went up by 10K but the total dropped by a few hundred. I can cope with these figures.

Patch 3.3 Gold

Hmmm.

So the glyph books were a blow out. I am slowly flipping them for profit, but that is taking time.

Saronite Ore. Selling for 120% pre-patch 3.3
Saroite Bars. Selling for 125% pre-patch 3.3 very slowly
Borean Leather. Market price not moved
H. Borean Leather. Selling for 100% profit of borean leather equivalent, but not much of a move.

I bought up loads of techniques and managed to sell a few for 99g each so thatwas some cash, but the expected inflation has not really occured to the extent that I had hoped and the rush to get the mats to make titanium and arctic fur hasn't materialised.

The price of titanium hasn't dropped yet and arctic fur's price seem steady. In fact they are 'up' at the moment.

The new glyphs sold well for a very short time but the prices have already tanked down to 3-5g. That is probably my fault for 'heavy undercamping' - the name for my glyph selling techniques. heavy undercutting with as much camping as my /afk schedule will allow.

Sunday 13 December 2009

Sunday Scribe Fun

Just a quickie.

Patch 3.3 seems to have increased the demand and the supply of glyphs so not really a lot of change going on.

Seller #1: 2055 glyphs @ 5g each = 10,275g
Seller #2: 1635 glyphs @ 5g each = 8,175g
Seller #3: 1515 glyphs @ 5g each = 7,575g

Ink of the Sea: 3,342 @ 4g50sg each = 15,039g
Snowfall Ink: 1347 @ 11g each = 14,817g
Cash: 34,348g

For a total of 105,268 gold of which 32.6% is cash.

Cancelling Auctions With Patch 3.3

Seem's that blizz are cracking down on macro and addon automation again. You cannot auto cancel auctions with QA2 or other addons now.

QA2 have found a workaround for now and it is implemented in their latest version, but they reckon blizztards will close that loophole soon.

I guess Arthas is pissed off that with all the auction house cancelling going on that his "Glyph of Frozen Throne Warming" keeps getting undercut. Arsehole!

Bloody Books of Glyphs

The new glyphs do indeed come fom the inscription supply lady. Goddam!

And We're In.

I did my trick of totally logging off and loggin back on and suddenly there were 2 realms available.

One of them was my old realm so I popped on there to see how many addons would break and to empty the mail box of my old banker.

When I logged out the realm for my new belf pally was up so I logged on there and handed in a couple of quests.

Now I'm just waiting for my main realm to arrive so I can sell shit!

Patch 3.3 Errors

I was dubious yesterday about how smooth the patching would go. I had just let Windows Satan, err, Pista ... Vista /spit upgrade itself to SP2. How stupid was that on the eve of patch 3.3? So anyway I did.

I realised the day before yesterday that I had 0% of patch 3.3 downloaded? Why? Because as soon as I exited WoW I would be telling my PC to sleep. Ooops.

So with trepidation I cam downstairs this morning and thankfully the downloader said 788MB / 788 MB so I kicked off the launcher and had to download the last 12MB. No Biggy.

While that was installing I read the patch notes ... again.

Once complete I tried to kick off the launcher and was told that WoW could not execute because of direct x 9.0c couldn't launch a 3D accelerator or something like that.

Uh-Oh. I rebooted the system in case it was some registry or other somesuch gremlin. WoW launcher kicked off fine.

So WoW.exe is also kicked off fine and I enter my password and ... BANG ... "Could not validate Game version number. Please check the support page"

OMFG!!!!! I try inputting the password again ... and CONNECTING ... Authenticator please ... In!!

So for now I'm in. Seems Hydra wasn't so lucky :(

So what am I doing right now? Staring at an empty Realm Select screen!!!

Oh and pro tip for maintenance days. I seem to remember last time I was sat staring at the front screen where you are asked to select whioch realm type and language you want. It didn't update when realms became available. So I was sat there thinking it was still down and everyone was in game. I logged out entirely and suddenly all the realms were available. Coincidence?

Tuesday 8 December 2009

Patch 3.3 Is Here ... Nearly!!!

Yep, In case you're accessing this blog from a cave and you can't get onto ... errr ... the internet ... and ... yeah I know ... whateva.

Anyway, Patch 3.3 will be applied to EU realms tonight.

Sell your titanium and arctic fur. Buy up saronite and borean leather. And maybe glyph books.

Try and log on in the morning and curse blizztard!!

Monday 7 December 2009

Patch 3.3 Gold Part 3 - Saronite Ore / Bars

The idea here is that when alchemists lose the cooldown for titanium transmute there will be a lot of buying up saronite bars (and ores) to be transmuted into titanium.

Estimated Price Change.
The price of titanium will drop from 30g each to about 20g and the price of saronite ore will rise from 32g/2xstacks and bars 32g/stack (my server prices) to the price of 2.5 titanium bars = 50g - which also happens to be the exact same estimate Markco has made :)

Again, it's very possible that every mage and his water elemental will be doing this and the market will flood worse than cumbria and your saronite will be worth shit.

The Back Up Plan.
To counter this event you need to keep however much you are comfortable with in ore form for prospecting and saronite shuffling if that will be profitable or get your friendly neighbourhood blacksmith to make you up bags and bags of deadly saronite dirks (13-15g mats) and then DE them into shards with hopefully a sale price of 20g.

What else? Get rid of any spare relics of Ulduar - BoA shoulder/head enchants are coming and the new fishing competition means that pygmy sucker fish will flood the auction house.

Patch 3.3 Gold Part 2 - Borean Leather/HBL and Arctic Fur

The idea behind this is that come 3.3 you will be able to use 10 heavy borean leather to buy arctic fur. So HBL prices will rise(more demand) and arctic fur prices will fall(more supply). Supply and Demand you see.

So for god's sake dump your arctic fur now. The price WILL drop.

Risky?
But, will the price of heavy leather rise? Well that doesn't just depend on the 'demand' it will also depend on the supply. It may be that everyone and their mangy fucking dog have the same idea and have been stockpiling leather and the supply outstrips demand and the price actually drops.

Work It Out.
So, as soon as the patch drops and regularly thereafter, you want to be comparing the price of 1 arctic fur vs 10 heavy borean leather vs 60 borean leather and then create/exchange to whatever form is most profitable. But what if all markets tank?

DISASTER!!!
You have a guild bank full of heavy borean leather you can do fuck all with except sell at a loss.

NO. You have a guild bank full of normal borean leather that you get your leatherworker to turn into Nerubian Legguards. Then you have your disenchanter and his new macro "/cast Disenchant /use Nerubian Legguards".

Each stack of leather will make 2.5 legguards and each legguard will DE into 2-3 infinite dusts. Each dust will sell for 2-5 gold depending on your server.

Do It Quick!
But be quick DE'ing if market fails. If there are lots of people with a warehouse of leather to get rid of a lot of them will be doing this. You want to sell your infinite dust in the first couple of weeks while there is enough demand to outstrip supply because lots and lots of raiders are enchanting new gear from Icecrown.

The Maths.
You need to check out the prices on your server, especially the infinte dust (Ours has been dropping below 3 gold) to figure out how much you can buy borean leather for in both the good and the bad scenarios.

Good Scenario: Arctic Fur(1) 50g pre 3.3 and Borean Leather(60) 24g pre 3.3. Means they'll probably level out at 36g. That's 12g per stack of leather. You can gamble that buying borean under 12g/stack is going to profit.

Bad Scenario: It didn't come off. You need to craft and DE. Say you get 2 infinite Dust per legguard and your infinite dust price dropped from 3g to 2g. (We're talking worst case here hopefully). So you get 5 dusts per stack of leather which you can sell for 5 x 2g = 10g.

So, as long as you spend less than 10g/stack on leather you should win either way. The only way to lose is if the infinite dust price really tanks.

I have 2 guild bank tabs of leather that I can't wait to get rid of.

Patch 3.3 Gold Part 1 - Books of Glyph Mastery.

Last week I bought up loads more Books of Glyph Mastery. I have been buying up all books under 30 gold in the hope that the price will sky-rocket when the patch hits.

*See disclaimer at the bottom before reading any further :P

The Premise.
What I've heard is that there are 3 new glyphs to be learnt, they'll be learnt from the Book of Glyph Mastery and that they'll need Snowfall Inks.

The Alternative.
But a lot of talk from the PTR is that they are a limited supply purchase from the inscription supplies vendor in Dullaran.

I am banking on the fact that that is just how the glyph is being distributed for testing on the PTR and is not how the new glyphs will be implemented come 'go-live'.

The Back Up Plan.
That's the rumours I have heard anyway. I am a little worried that they'll be trainer learnt, but we get price spikes on the books often enough that I should be able to flip them anyway. I flipped 2 this week anyway when the price shot up to 50 gold each. Earlier tonight the lowest was up for 82g and they're currently at 50g. I'm currently sitting on 70 Books which is an investment of a maximum of 2100 gold.

If they sell for 50g on patch day then they'll make 3500 gold. 1.5K is nothing to be sniffed at for a few minutes work and a few weeks of a little bit of bank space.

So lets hope that:
a) Those glyphs are in fact learnt from the books.
b) There is enough of a demand on patch day from all the scribes to boost the price of these well above the 30g each I paid.
c) That all the other scribes are caught unawares by this.
and d) That my information is up-to-date!

But not only that but I am of course going to learn those new glyphs myself at the first possible opportunity and get them on the auction house. I'm going to have to do this quick before every noob on the server buys out my overpriced glyph books and learns them themselves.

Side Tactic.
If these new glyphs are in fact made with snowfalls you probably want to be stockpiling them now. The scribes may resort to buying SFI from the AH driving the prices up. Herbs may rise in price because of it too. I have been buying up as much as I can in the profitable range. I may try to bleed some SFI into the AH if it's looking good. Either way, I'll have plenty of supplies to keep me going if the AH herbs and SFI supply dries up.

Alternative-Risky-As-Fuck Strategy.
You camp the Auction House. You buy out every glyph book as it comes on and hope that the scribes on your server don't have any books in the bank in preparation for the patch. This way you are the only person on the server with the 3 new glyphs. Keep it that way and sell these new glyphs at ridiculous prices!! I personally won't be following this strategy!

Disclaimer.
I can now not find any mention on the internet anywhere about these glyphs being learnt from books. :(

Tips for Making Gold With Patch 3.3

Over the course of the next couple days I will be explaining how I hope to make gold from patch 3.3.

If you're a regular lurker here then you know I am stockpiling leather, saronite and books. But why?

Well that's what the next couple of posts are going to tell you. I had initially planned to post these on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. But there is a slight chance that 3.3 will hit this week so I'd better get them out there now.

Books of Glyph Mastery

Borean Leather to Arctic Fur

Saronite Bar/Ores

Get moving, some people are already convinced it's patch day tomorrow!!

Sunday 6 December 2009

Schunday Schribe Schupdate

It's Sunday again so it's time for the Goblin Update. From now on I'm also going to include a non-glyph update, which will include JC'ing when I get HW trained up, scrolls when I can be bothered to figure out which ones sell well and get EB a time efficient way to churn them out and sell and tailoring goodies, ie Netherweave bags, when I can be bothered to record these. Not to mention the Leather, Glyph Books and Saronite speculation.

Books of Glyph Mastery.
I used up some of my 3.3 speculation stock to finish off these. I don't really know why I was holding off. But I have 70 books at 30g a pop. 2100g

Trainable Glyphs.
I only have 9 Glyphs left to learn.

4 Minors:
Horn of Winter
Typhoon
Shadow Protection
Curse of Exhaustion

5 Majors:
Innervate
Aspect of the Viper
the Beast
Ghostly Strike
Blocking

Considering I was late on parade to the minor inscription research it's odd that I will nearly finish up both streams glyphs on the same day.

So by Friday I should be done with every possible glyph.

Stocks.
Ink of the Sea: 4,611 @ 4g50sg each = 20,749g
Snowfall Ink: 1357 @ 11g each = 14,927g
Cash: 25,153g

Glyph Sellers.
My 3 Sellers are getting a bit full. They all have a full complement of 32 slot bags. But they are filling up. I am currently considering starting a 4th Seller. Maybe just for the 2 ink glyphs and the snowfall glyphs post patch 3.3. Anyway, I'm going to set an average price on my glyphs of 5g.

Seller #1: 1,920 glyphs @ 5g each = 9,600g
Seller #2: 2,080 glyphs @ 5g each = 10,400g
Seller #3: 2,660 glyphs @ 5g each = 13,300g

Total Assets: 68,976g
Cash : 25,152g
Total: 94,128g

It's going to be fun converting that stock into cash to get the money cap!!

That's still 26.7% cash

On top of that we have the 3.3 speculation Items

Books of Glyph Mastery. See Patch 3.3 Gold Part 1 tomorrow.
70 Books of Glyph Mastery. Current Value:2100g.

Borean Leather. See Patch 3.3 Gold Part 2 on Tuesday.
150 stacks at 8g / stack*** = 1200g

Saronite. See Patch 3.3 Gold Part 3 on Wednesday.
Ores: 33 stacks at 16g/stack = 528g
Bars: 83 stacks at 32g/stack = 2,649g

Total Stock: 4,377g

How did I Do With Pilgrim's Week?

What with milling, crafting, and other AFK parts of the glyph industry I generally find myself walking away from my PC entirely and doing something useful with my life. Combine that with the fact I can't updae my blog from work has seriously impacted my blogging.

So much so that I'm a bit late with the results of my trip through the Pilgrim Achievement.

Boost To Cooking Levelling.
I hope that everyone caught the news from other blogs that this event could you used to boost your cooking skill up to 340 for almost nothing. I bought a few extra ingredients and made sure all my alts bought the book of recipes only to discover I have levelled up all of my alts to at least 300!! Oops!!

TBC Boss Kill Required.
As this meta required you to kill Iksticks or whatever his name is only HolyWarrior and EvilBastard actually got the full achievement. Most of the others alts could probably have gone in a full group but I couldn't be bothered trying to organise that.

EB and HW were going to go in and dual-box him but I put out a shout in /trade announcing I was gong in and if anyone fancied joining me. A level 80 tank whispered me so he came along and made it a lot easier. We were done in 5-10 minutes as the warrior just stormed through everything, whereas I would have been a bit more careful with my pulling.

We did have a bit of a scary moment when EB ran through a load of mobs due to follow-lag or something and then HW got thrown into another pack of mobs and we ended up with about 20 mobs on us. But although that was a little scary we were never in any real danger.

We got to the boss and I remembered too late that you need to run behind a column when he does something. I got half way to a column, but at level 80 he doesn't really hurt you.

He hurt EB though. I neglected him and he managed to die!! He still got the achi though.

Yes You Are a Turkey.
You have trouble finding a Dwarf Rogue? I had trouble finding a troll and orc rogue too so I made them and shot them whilst I was down in Durotar. Then I headed over to Coldridge Valley with the intention of creating a Dwarf Rogue.

No Need, someone else had the same idea...

Great name :)

Shot In The Back.
One of the last rogues that HW needed was a belf. There were several of the bastards hanging around Dullaran refusing to click off their debuffs and just simply pissing everyone off. Then I found one of the stinking belfs in the Scribes building as I was loading up on materials. I quickly switched back over to HW and shot the sneaky little fucker in the back!!

Honourable? No. Funny? Oh for damm sure!!! Christ look at my hair though. Definitely time to visit the barbers and get that achievement ticked off!"

A New Alt

What with 'Clitachasm-TM' potentially only a few months off (yeah an expansion a year my arse!!!) I have been doing things that I might never be able to do again.

HW and EB have been doing the old world loremaster. They really need to finish up the old world dungeon and raids in case anything happens to them and basically anything else that might change. More on that in a later post.

One other thing that I haven't done yet is to roll a belf and work through the belf starting zone quests. So I decided to follow in the steps of Galo. Meet Udikwique (You-Die-Quick). Oh my god what a loladin name!! He is on Burning Legion (EU) and he's gone from 1-20 in a week of casual play.

Another new thing I am trying is playing on a PvP server. Maybe I should have named him Ayedikwique and made him a retadin!

Wierd Build?
I'm levelling him with a hybrid Prot/Ret build that I am making up as I go along.

He currently has some dodge, parry and strength talent points allocated. Has been pretty lucky with green drops (I have only bough him a neck, ring and shoulder piece) and has done the first 2 pally trial quests and has the one to go over to BFD, RFC and somewhere else. Oh and just learnt his level 20 charger.

Level 20 Mount? I can't fucking believe how easy the noobs get it nowadays. I remember the days when you had to be level 40 and pay 100 gold!!! (Pallies still got it free!!!) Now it's pennies and at level 20.

Levelling.
The levelling is nice and linear. Not to much running back and forth and you can knock out bunchs of quests together and hand them in together. Nice.

Bags.
Also the amount of bags that belfs get drops/quest rewards in the first few levels is staggering. I remember back in the day when I got my first extra bag it was amazing. It then took some time before I filled another empty bag slot with a 6 slotter and quiet a while before I was kitted out with all 6 slots.

Udikwique was full up on 4, 6 and even 8 slotters really quickly. But the thrill of filling those empty bag slots is still there!

Proffessions.
Anyway, as for gold and bags. My level 20 already has 100 gold. He is currently a miner / herber - yes I know he should be miner or herber plus skinner but I can't be arsed with skinning, so I just keep a beedy eye out and switch trackers frequently.

I digress, everytime I've been back at silvermoon I've been throwing everything at the auction house. All the herbs, all the copper ore and all the greens.

Mistake 1 - I should have checked out the copper bar price in case it is worth my time smelting.

Anyway, with the proceeds of just one night's set of overnight sales I bought my first netherweave bag for 10 gold and still had 25 gold left over. The next batch of sales came in and I got myself another 2 netherweave bags as I was still finding myself with full bags and throwing grays away is still throwing money away!

Such Different Prices.
One thing I noticed was that low level greens have been selling for ridiculous amounts. I haven't checked the average price of Strange Dust on this server but it must be high. The greens are selling for 2 gold each. And I've even sold some for 20g, 25g and 30g ... WTF?? The login screen says the server is full. Surely the strange dust market is flooded!!!

Come Find Me.
So if your are on a EU server then come find me on horde side and say hello. Don't be shy!

Thursday 3 December 2009

Was Gonna Make Some DM Cards...

... I was on a glyph seller tonight and I just happened to do a quick search for Eternal Life in case there was any on cheap. There were 2 x 20 stacks on at 50% market price. That's 15g each and 40 of them. OMFG!!!

Having just sent that seller's cash off to the Scribe I have to relog to get hold of them. By the time I'd logged over they'd sold. FFS :(

Mohawks!! Mr T!!! BA!!

OMGWTFBBQ????

You may have seen the adverts on TV or just been 'Mr T mohawked' as you go about your Auction House duties. Larisa doesn't like him but what is all this mohawk stuff all about?

Well, some time ago Mr T made an advert for WoW at the same time as other adverts were saying "I'm William Shatner and I play an Undead Mage*" and Mr T's advert came on and he say's "...I play a Night Elf Mohawk" a developer then pipes up and says there is no such thing and Mr T then starts arguing in his typical BA A-Team stylee.

Now with the release of his second advert for Blizztards he has actually made it into the game.

I was wondering where all this came from and whether it was a world event and how you got mohawked.

Then as I was doing the Pilgrims event I was in Durotar and ran into this chap just south east of the entrance to the troll/orc starting area...

And his dialogue is a direct reference to that argument with the dev in the first advert...

I love it - I pity the fools!!! Classic. If you click on the dialogue he then gives you 5 Mohawk Grenades (duration 1 day and unique-5 - WTF??)

* Probably wrong!
